Large International Study Identifies 36 Risk Genes Across OCD and Chronic Tic Disorders
Whole-exome sequencing from thousands of people with obsessive–compulsive disorder,
chronic tic disorders, or both expands the list of high-confidence large-effect risk genes
and strengthens evidence that the two conditions share part of their genetic architecture.
What it does not mean:
researchers did not discover “the Tourette gene,” a new diagnostic test, or a new treatment.

How Autism-Linked Mutations Rewire Protein Networks
Researchers mapped 1,881 protein interactions across 100 high-confidence autism risk proteins and found that different patient-derived mutations can converge on shared molecular systems.
What it does not mean:
this is not “the cause of autism,” a diagnostic test, or a treatment announcement.
